such a cool place! service was great, the food was pretty good, the people in the bar were ok except for this one hammered gentleman who wouldn't leave us alone - but that's not the bars fault. Pick up a brochure at the front of the bar and read about some of the history while you're having a drink! Great neon sign outside, too!

Had steak sandwich and it was very good for sirloin, was able to bit through it. Very clean place, I wouldn't be afraid to poop there.

The original. This place has personality and charm like no other. Both the people and the place feel real. There are a ton of dead animals in there and an awesome golden cash register machine.

Loved it, but they no longer serve dinner as of Jan. 2014. (They do serve bar sandwiches). I was happy to see a drinkable selection of red and white wine - I enjoyed a glass of 14 Hands Merlot and Ravenswood Zinfandel). Great experience - but find another restaurant for food.

We needed a late dinner in Miles City. There aren't that many choices. We drove around "downtown" for a bit and mostly saw bars without any windows. We picked Montana Bar & Steakhouse because it was open and didn't look scary. We walked into the restaurant and were informed that they were closed but the kitchen was open and we could eat in the adjoining bar. From the outside it looks like these are two totally different businesses but apparently they are really one. The bar is pretty cool, with what I am assuming are original (historic) pressed tin ceilings, an enormous built in bar, and old timey gold cash register. Our waitress was nice but couldn't describe a beer I asked about. Montana Bar serves basic American traditional food, what I would expect in Almost Middle of Nowhere Montana. I had grilled chicken and coleslaw for dinner, while my boyfriend had steak and a couple different sides. The chicken was better than expected and my boyfriend thought the coleslaw might be homemade. The menu states that their steaks are from cows raised in eastern Montana, so that's cool. I don't remember my boyfriend's judgement of his meal but he cleaned his plates. The only weird thing was that when we were getting in the truck the waitress came running out after us. I had accidentally taken the merchant instead of guest copy of the receipt. The guest copy I left did not have the tip written in but still had the full amount including tip written at the bottom so she would have known I didn't skip her tip. I've accidentally taken the wrong receipt copy before but never been chased down by wait staff ever in my life. Maybe it's a small town thing.

Mix a very good drink.... Talk to Blake, he'll get you headed in the right direction. Small dance floor, a pool table and sports on the tube. Usually the most consistent "game" in town most weekends.

The place is most interesting with a lot of historic furnishings. Altho it's primarily a steakhouse we ordered walleye as we read that they did a good job with it. And they did. Fish was served hot and pan seared. The side dishes were good so no complaints on the food. Our server was not with the program. Don't know if she was new or just flustered but it didn't flow smoothly and it took forever to get our food. Would return, though. Feel bad for the gal and hopefully she'll improve,
